Jezebel – Persuasion (The Single)

An initial single Persuasion was released (in 1999) with Emily Booth which Eileen performed with her on the UK television show Eurotrash.  The single was produced by Steve Severin who had met Eileen in the early 1990s.

The single was accompanied by a video which concentrated on both girls, but did feature Eileen on vocals in contrast to Eurotrash where Eileen was seen fronting the group and interviewed as part of the show.   Eventually feeling that the band was not following exactly the path intended Eileen took a period of time out which became an extended sabbatical of two years during which she concentrated on other non-musical projects (whilst continuing to write poetry and song lyrics).  It was during this period that she met Ben Thirkettle and finding in him a kindred spirit and also a love of music began working with him on developing some of her existing songs and also working on completely new ones.  The songs that came from these sessions took on a life of their own and it was in writing these new punk/glam/gypsy style songs that the idea of creating an entirely new band took shape.  This idea would eventually become THE COURTESANS.
